September is Hunger Action Month

Arizona is the third highest producer of fruit and vegetables in the country – producing 12% of the nation’s fruits and vegetables – yet one in every six Arizonans struggles with food insecurity, which is the occasional or constant lack of access to food.

1 in 9 Arizonans (1 in 6 children) are estimated to be food insecure. That is nearly 798,790 people, and 169,610 children.

In September, we come together to rally around food banks, support awareness around hunger and instill action among our advocates, legislators, anti-hunger friends, and YOU! Because together, we can end hunger.

5 Ways you can make a difference

  1. Wear orange with us on Hunger Action Day on Friday, September 23. Take a photo and tag @azfoodbanks in your posts!

  2. Donate to Arizona Food Bank Network or ELCA World Hunger.

  3. Volunteer at one of Arizona’s member food banks.

  4. Join the conversation by sharing our social media posts or sharing your stories with the hashtag #HungerActionMonth

  5. Write to elected officials.

Which one of the ways will you be fighting hunger this month?
